چکیده

An annual increase of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere causes global environmental problems, addressed by systematic research to develop effective technologies for capturing and utilizing carbon dioxide. Electrochemical catalytic reduction is one directions conversion into valuable chemicals fuels. The electrochemical at catalytically active electrodes aqueous solutions most studied. Impacts of electrode potentials and solvents on the electroreduction of CO2: a comparison of theoretical approaches.

Since CO2 is a readily available feedstock throughout the world, the utilization of CO2 as a C1 building block for the synthesis of valuable chemicals is a highly attractive concept. However, due to its very nature of energy depleted "carbon sink", CO2 has a very low reactivity. Electrocatalysis offers the most attractive means to activate CO2 through reduction: the electron is the "cleanest" r...

Application of the LFER in Organic Electrochemistry: Jnterpretation of the Hammett Reaction Constant (e) for Processes of Reversible Electroreduction in Aprotic Solvents

The paper is an overview of the application of the concept of linear free energy relationships (LFER), most notably through the Hammett equation, to investigations of reversible organic electrochemical reactions in aprotic solvents. In sequence the following topics are covered: the effect of solvent properties on the equilibrium, ion pairing effects, the direct application of Hammett's equation...

Complexes of a naphthalimide photoacid with organic bases, and their excited-state dynamics in polar aprotic organic solvents.

Complex formation and intermolecular excited-state proton transfer (ESPT) between a dihydroxy-1,8-naphthalimide photoacid and organic bases are investigated in polar aprotic solvents. First, quantum chemical calculations are used to explore the acid-base and spectroscopic properties and to identify energetically favorable complexes. The two hydroxyl groups of the photoacid enable stepwise forma...

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 in organic solvents catalyzed by MoO2.

MoO2 microparticles act as an active catalyst for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 in organic solvents such as acetonitrile and dimethylformamide. The catalytic activity and product selectivity depend on temperature and water content of the solvent.

A Carbohydrate–Anion Recognition System in Aprotic Solvents

A carbohydrate-anion recognition system in nonpolar solvents is reported, in which complexes form at the B-faces of β-D-pyranosides with H1-, H3-, and H5-cis patterns similar to carbohydrate-π interactions. The complexation effect was evaluated for a range of carbohydrate structures; it resulted in either 1:1 carbohydrate-anion complexes, or 1:2 complex formation depending on the protection pat...
